Kapoor completed 35 years in the industry. Her first film, Prem Qaidi, which also starred Harish in the lead role, was released in theatres on June 21, 1991. It didn’t do well at the box office, but Karisma got recognition for her performance in the film. On the occasion of 35 years of her career, Karisma revealed how she couldn’t pursue her higher studies due to her debut film, Prem Qaidi. The actress mentioned that she attended junior college for a few days before kickstarting her acting journey at 17.
Why Didn’t Karisma Kapoor Attend College?
In an interview with Screen,
Karisma Kapoor got nostalgic while speaking about bagging her first film, Prem Qaidi, back in the 1990s. The film was directed by K Murali Mohana Rao. Karisma said that she attended junior college for very few days as she quickly landed on the sets of Prem Qaidi soon after her school. While sharing trivia of her first time, the actress said, “My first movie released four days before my 17th birthday. I do remember the mahurat shot also. Time has flown by really fast.” Lolo also revealed that the lighting used to be very harsh back in the 90s. The actors used to struggle to barely open their eyes.
She also mentioned that actors perform better when there is sync sound, as the dubbing rooms have AC and the dark space doesn't get the right emotions from them at that moment.
Karisma Kapoor On Working With Shyam Benegal
Karisma also recalled that times have changed, and due to technology, things became easier for the crew members. In her 35-year-long career, Zubeidaa turned out to be a game changer for Karisma Kapoor. She received a lot of praise for her performance in the Shyam Benegal film. The Judwaa actress said that working with Benegal was a learning experience for her. She confessed, “I learnt so much even about what is behind the camera from what he spoke to me about. It was a beautiful experience.”
