Sadie
Sink's entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and her character in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, are possibly one of the best-kept mysteries in the MCU, to date. The Stranger Things star is set to join Tom Holland's Spider-Man franchise, but Marvel has kept her role completely under wraps, with the actress not appearing in trailers or promotional material thus far. Sadie's Marvel role was so secretive that she didn't even audition for the part and was only given the script after getting to London to begin filming. While Sadie was seen accompanying the cast, also including Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, during the Europe promotions, she refrained from sharing much about her part.
Sadie Sink's Marvel debut in shadows
Sadie Sink recently spoke in an interview with Nylon about the strange process of joining the MCU. The actress said the secrecy around big Marvel projects is unlike anything she's experienced before. She shared that rather than the usual process of actors auditioning and getting scripts beforehand, Sadie was apparently offered the role outright due to her previous work with director Destin Daniel Cretton on
The Glass Castle. Infact, she didn't even receive a script until she landed in London."I knew that Marvel was a big deal and had a big brand, especially Spider-Man," Sink said. "I know there's a huge fan base, but it feels really big. I think these blockbuster movies are a whole different beast," she added about her MCU debut.
Spider-Man has become one of Marvel's most successful properties, which makes Sadie's introduction a big moment for the franchise.
Tom Holland helped Sadie
Sadie opened up about the pressure that came with entering the MCU and revealed that her co-star Tom Holland made the transition easier. She described Holland as welcoming and said he made her feel comfortable on set, especially as a first-timer diving into a huge franchise. Tom Holland, who has been Peter Parker since 2016's
Captain America: Civil War, has become one of the defining actors of the Marvel modern era."It was interesting stepping into that space and being a little bit of an outsider in that way, but he could not have been more welcoming, and just the whole crew in general. He was just so relaxed and open, and I felt very at ease." Sadie said.
Fans theories around Sadie Sink's character
With Marvel revealing next to nothing about Sadie's role, fans have been scouring every detail for clues. One of the most talked-about theories circulating on the internet is that Sadie could be playing some version of Jean Grey, possibly tying her character to Marvel's upcoming plans for the
X-Men.Sadie, however, has kept tight-lipped and hasn't confirmed any details about her character, leaving fans guessing. Marvel has a history of keeping major plot twists under wraps, and Sadie's secretive introduction seems to be in line with the studio's tradition of keeping important character reveals undisclosed until the right moment.
