The action drama, which contains graphic violence and disturbing scenes, is restricted to adult audiences. At one theatre, police reportedly arrived after receiving information that families had brought minors into the screening, leading to a temporary halt as children were escorted out. The interruption left audiences waiting for nearly an hour, with some theatres announcing refunds before resuming the show. The incident has sparked discussion around enforcing age restrictions at cinemas.

Several screenings of Jana Nayagan across Chennai ran into trouble on Sunday after children were reportedly found inside auditoriums showing the A-certified film. The disruption affected multiple theatres, with some screenings being temporarily halted, delayed, or briefly cancelled before eventually resuming.One of the incidents took place during the 9:25 am show at PVR Cinemas in Ampa Mall. Indian Express mentioned that according to a moviegoer present at the screening, the film was stopped around 9:35 am after police personnel entered the auditorium following reports that several families had brought children into the adults-only screening. Videos shared online showed audience members waiting inside the theatre as officials and theatre staff addressed the situation.

The screening reportedly remained on hold for nearly an hour while families with minors were escorted out of the auditorium. Viewers claimed there was little communication from the management during the interruption, leaving audiences uncertain about whether the show would resume. After the children had left the auditorium, theatre management reportedly announced refunds for affected patrons before restarting the screening. Some viewers, however, criticised the handling of the situation, saying the delay and lack of updates could have been managed more efficiently. Jana Nayagan has been certified A by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to its mature content, including graphic violence and scenes depicting sexual assault and child abuse. Under Indian certification rules, films with an A certificate are restricted to audiences aged 18 years and above, making the presence of minors inside the screenings a violation of exhibition guidelines.
