Ranvir Shorey On Satluj’s Removal From ZEE5
ZEE5 shared a long note on social media and revealed that
Satluj has been removed from the platform in India due to the makers’ ongoing legal battle with the CBFC over the certification issue. For the unversed, the film was delayed by three years. The CBFC didn’t clear the film’s release due to its political content and potential influence on the viewers. They had suggested over 120 cuts in
Satluj. However, director Honey Trehan and the makers held their ground against the CBFC demand. In fact,
Satluj was supposed to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023; however, it was later withdrawn since the film was still expecting a verdict from the Bombay High Court.
Coming back to

Satluj on ZEE5 but was left disappointed after learning about its removal. In his note on X, the

Diljit Dosanjh received a lot of praise for his performance in
Satluj. He shared a video from the film on Instagram and reacted to his film’s ban in India. The actor stated, “Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra Ji (folded hand emoji) #Panjab95 Satluj is what happened to Khalra Saab.” (sic)
What Is The Story Of Satuj?
Satluj is based on a real-life incident. It is set in the period following the assassination of then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, when over 2000 people were killed and cremated unlawfully in Tarn Taran, Punjab. Jaswant Singh Khalra, who was the director of a bank in Amritsar, uncovered the evidence of the horrific murders. In 1995, he was reportedly abducted and killed after his investigation had sparked worldwide protests. The Supreme Court of India and the National Human Rights Commission had also backed Jaswant Singh Khalra’s findings.
Satluj is directed by Honey Trehan, and it also stars Arjun Rampal, Suvinder Vicky, Geetika Vidya and others in key roles.
