Masters Of The Universe OTT Release Date: When And Where To Watch Nicholas Galitzine's Fantasy Adventure Film

After

releasing in theatres on June 5, Masters of the Universe is heading to the small screen with a digital premiere on July 22. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, the live-action film starring Nicholas Galitzine will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The Red, White & Royal Blue actor plays Prince Adam, aka He-Man, who returns to Eternia to save his family and world from the evil Skeletor, played by Jared Leto. This is the second live-action adaptation of the Mattel toy franchise. The first starring Dolph Lundgren was released in 1987.

Masters of the Universe to premiere on July 22 on Amazon Prime Video

On social media, the streaming service shared a new video, announced the film's digital release and stated, "Listen Up! Watch Masters of the Universe - July 22 on Prime Video." Directed by Travis Knight, Masters of the Universe is written by Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and David Callaham. The film had been in development since 2007.

The new version shows Prince Adam (Galitzine) being guided by the Sword of Power back to Eternia after 15 long years. Adam has been stuck on Earth as an ordinary person. He teams up with two allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and claims his destiny as the most powerful man in the universe as He-Man and fights Leto's Skeletor. The rest of the cast also includes Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Charlotte Riley. Kristen Wiig lends her voice of Roboto, while original star Dolph Lundgren has a cameo as Macho Man. Adam's twin sister, Adora, aka She-Ra (Lauren Saliu), appears in mid-credits scenes, hinting at a possible sequel. Made on a production budget of $200 million, Masters of the Universe ended its run with $113 million worldwide at the summer box office.

Actor Galitzine had to transform his body to play the powerful hero. He told Variety at the red carpet premiere, "It takes so long to put on, [but] it’s so quick to come off.” Galitzine was relieved to finally stop eating his strict training diet and relax for his next indie project.

The Hollywood star, who has earlier worked with Amazon MGM Studios on Red, White & Royal Blue and The Idea of You with Anne Hathaway, will be back to reprise his role as British Prince Harry in the sequel Red, White & Royal Wedding. Also, starring Taylor Zakhar Perez, the queer romance is expected to release later this year.
