4 star Arshad Warsi has been working in showbiz for more than 30 years now. His latest outing, Welcome To The Jungle, has been doing well at the box office. After that, the actor’s yet another comedy film, Dhamaal 4, which is directed by Indra Kumar. Ahead of the film’s release in July, Arshad had an exclusive interaction with Zoom, where he opened up about how he got his first acting break in the industry. For the unversed, the actor made his acting debut with the Amitabh Bachchan-produced film, Tere Mere Sapne (1996). He was paired opposite Simran in the film. He revealed that Jaya Bachchan was very sure about him and he didn’t even audition for his first film.
How Did Arshad Warsi Get His First Film?
During a candid conversation with us, we asked Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaaferi if they ever had any ridiculous audition experience. Reacting to the same, Arshad said that he never auditioned for the film. While narrating the story of how he got his first film, the actor said, “I have never given an audition in my life. If I give an audition, I will fail because I don't know how to give an audition.” The Ishqiya actor said that Jaya Bachchan was very sure about his casting. She had a valid reason behind it. While explaining her decision, Arshad said, “I got my first film, Tere Mere Sapne, without an audition. I even asked Jaya Bachchan ji why she chose me for the film. She had a very valid reason.”
“I had taken some photographs. She saw them and told me that I was not worried about the camera and gave different expressions in every photo. She felt that I was not scared of the camera. Hence, she was sure about me. I must say, she is a very bright woman,” Arshad concluded.Tere Mere Sapne also starred Chandrachur Singh and Priya Gill in pivotal roles. It was declared a hit at the box office.
On the other hand, Jaaved Jaaferi also narrated about his only audition for the film. He said, “I have given only an audition for Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom for the role of a villain, which Amrish Puri ji did. He was brilliant.”
On the work front, Arshad Warsi’s next film, Dhamaal 4, also stars Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Anjali Anand, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra and others in key roles. It is scheduled to be released in theatres on July 10, 2026. He will also be seen in Shah Rukh Khan's King later in the year.
