After Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha, Rajkummar Rao-Starrer Prahaar Gets POSTPONED - Report

Rao has an interesting set of films lined up for big-screen releases. One of them is Prahaar, a film based on public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam's life. The courtroom drama, directed by Avinash Arun, was scheduled for a theatrical release on August 7. It was one of the most exciting releases of the coming month. However, if a media report is to be believed, the film has apparently been postponed. Prahaar, produced by Maddock Films, also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikander Kher. That said, the makers haven't made an official annnouncement about its postponment.

Rajkummar Rao's Prahaar postponed?

According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers of Rajkummar's Prahaar decided to postpone the film's release after discussion with the stakeholders. The makers apparently felt that it wasn't advisable to release the courtroom drama during that period. "Had it arrived on the scheduled date, it would have released a week after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which arrives in cinemas on July 30, and a week before Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, both of which release on August 14. All three films appear promising," a source told the entertainment portal.

The report further suggests that Prahaar is a special film which requires a healthy window, as it has the potential to draw audiences in large numbers. "The trade has already been buzzing with reports that Prahaar has been postponed. This is because producer Dinesh Vijan is known to go all out while promoting his films, and that too well in advance," the source added.It is to be noted that the makers of Rajkummar's film are yet to make an announcement about Prahaar's postponment. Last week, it was reported that Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha had been postponed. However, there is no official update till now. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 28.

Bollywood films releasing in August 2026

Apart from Eetha and Prahaar, two other major Bollywood movies are going to hit the silver screen in August. Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta's Batwara 1947 is lined up to arrive on August 14. The partition drama will be clashing with Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 on the same day. That said, Yash's pan-India film, Toxic - A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, will be releasing in theatres on August 26. Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia's The Vvaan was lined up to release next month. However, it has been postponed to September 24, 2026.
