2024, actress Aishwarya Lekshmi made a bold statement, announcing that she would never get married. She went on to say that she arrived at this decision after observing compromises in many relationships around her, which led to her realisation. However, nearly two years later, the actor seems to have changed her stance. During the promotions of her film Gatta Kusthi 2, she also dropped another personal revelation, saying that she wishes to become a mother someday and hopes to have a partner whom she believes can be a 'good father.'
Aishwarya Lekshmi Opens Up About Wanting a Baby After Viral 'Never Get Married' Remark
In an interview with journalist Bharadwaj Rangan on the Galatta YouTube channel,
Aishwarya Lekshmi was asked whether she expected backlash for publicly stating that she would never get married. She responded that, on the contrary, many people supported her views, while another section of people asked whether she was considering a live-in relationship instead of marriage.
She went on to say that she is now reconsidering her decision, although she still has reservations about the institution of marriage. She added that she now feels she wants to have a baby, especially after playing the role of a mother in Gatta Kusthi 2. She has said that her 'mama genes' were awakened while working on the film. She further said, “If I want to have a child, I will probably want to be with someone whom I can at least believe would be a good father. I have changed as a person. Now I want to have a legal contract with somebody to have a baby.”
What Did Aishwarya Lekshmi say about getting married?
The actress said had previously revealed that she had decided never to get married. “When I was younger, I imagined getting married,” Aishwarya shared.
“At 8, 10, and even 25, I pictured tying the knot at Guruvayur temple, inspired by my mother’s devotion.” However, she said her perspective changed over time as she witnessed the realities of marriage around her. “
Most people I saw in marriages weren’t happy. They seemed to live with compromises, and few truly grew as individuals.” Aishwarya said that her decision was the result of careful thought rather than an impulsive choice.
On the work front, she will be seen in Gatta Kushthi 2, written and directed by Chella Ayyavu, the upcoming film is a sequel to Gatta Kusthi (2022), and continues the story of Keerthi (Aishwarya Lekshmi) and Veera (Vishnuu Vishal) as they go through reversed gender roles amidst a very conservative society.
