has still got it. Their second release of the year, Toy Story 5, after Hoppers, has now grossed over a billion globally at the box office. It joins The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael as the three films to cross that coveted mark this year. Directed by Andrew Stanton, the animated film features the voice talents of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack, who reprise their roles of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. The Disney and Pixar film is also the third film in the franchise to cross one billion after Toy Story 4 (2019) and Toy Story 3 (2010).

According to a report in
Variety, the fifth film in the beloved franchise earned $448 million in the US and added another $573 million from its international markets. Its total gross worldwide is now $1.022 billion, and
Toy Story 5 has surpassed

Michael, which are both tied at $1.001 billion. Directed by Antoine Fuqua,
Michael is the only live-action film, along with two animated sequels.

The Odyssey looks likely to enter the billion club with
Spider-Man: Brand New Day releasing at the end of July. Additionally, the year is about to close with two more juggernaut sequels,

The newest film also featured a new song by Taylor Swift titled,
I Knew It, I Knew You, focused on the character of cowgirl Jessie. The three-decade franchise was also the biggest debut of 2026 after it opened with $160 million.
