While the fans are excited about a 3 Idiots sequel, director Rajkumar Hirani recently confirmed that the much-awaited film is currently under the script development stage. When the news about the same came out, reports surfaced on the internet that there will be a ‘4th idiot’ in the 3 Idiots sequel. The rumours also stated that Vicky Kaushal could be the fourth idiot in the film. Amidst all, Hirani has broken his silence on all the speculations.

No Vicky Kaushal In 3 Idiots Sequel

In an interview with India Today, Rajkumar Hirani cleared the air on all the speculations regarding a 3 Idiots sequel. He said that the script is still being developed and confirmed that there would be an addition to the cast. The filmmaker said that Aamir Khan had read a very initial draft, which had an overall idea. Hirani said that they are still in the process of writing. When asked about a report of calling it '4 Idiots' after the reports of the fourth idiot. Rajkumar Hirani clarified that he got to know about it through social media. He said, “Honestly, there's no 4th idiot; it's 3 Idiots only. It's 20 years later [from where we ended].”

How Did The Buzz About 3 Idiots Start?

For the unversed, Aamir Khan had confirmed in one of the interviews that a 3 Idiots sequel is currently in the making. The actor has delivered a superhit film, Sitaare Zameen Par, in 2025. Now, he is currently working on his next projects. 3 Idiots is a cult classic that released in 2009. The Hindi film also starred R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Omi Vaidya, Mona Singh and Boman Irani in the lead roles. 3 Idiots was the first Hindi film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. Now, the makers are all set to make a sequel to it, which will tell the story of Farhan, Raju and Rancho’s lives 20 years after their reunion in Ladakh.
