With
five and half months to go before the release of Dune: Part Three on December 18, 2026, the makers are gearing up to release yet another trailer and some new scenes to get fans excited. The third film is based on Frank Herbert's 1969 novel Dune Messiah and closes out the cinematic saga first brought to the screen by Denis Villeneuve. Dune: Part Three stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy and Javier Bardem. The Batman star Robert Pattinson will join the cast as Scytale, an antagonist for Chalamet's Paul Atreides.
Special IMAX global trailer event for Dune Part Three
According to several reports, the
Dune: Part Three IMAX global trailer event will be held in New York City on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the AMC Lincoln Square. Lucky fans can get an exclusive first sneak peek at the new trailer and special footage from
Dune 3. That's not all, as Villeneuve will be a part of a special livestreamed conversation that will allow fans to ask questions to the Oscar-nominated director. There will be special commemorative giveaways from the sci-fi film and other surprises are planned as well.
Earlier this year when select IMAX 70mm tickets for
Dune were up for grabs for audiences in April 2026, they were sold out within minutes. The Warner Bros. film is clashing against Disney's
Avengers: Doomsday and the third film in the trilogy already has the slight edge as it will be releasing on IMAX, not the Marvel film.
What is Dune: Part Three about?
The sci-fi sequel takes place 17 years after the events of Dune Part Two. The earlier teaser hinted that Paul (
Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya) were about to have a baby. However, in the last film, Paul chose to marry Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh). According to Villeneuve, the final film will revolve around Paul as he deals with the consequences of having too much power. He must figure out how to get out of the constant cycle of violence. As he is now an emperor who has the ability of seeing into the future, he has a lot of unchecked power.
Oscar winner Hans Zimmer will be returning to score the film. Actor Jason Momoa's son Nakoa-Wolf Momoa joins the cast as Leto II Atreides, making his acting debut, while Ida Brooke will play Ghanima Atreides; Leto and Ghanima are Paul and Chani's twin children.
