Korean singer-songwriter IU has left fans concerned after announcing changes to her highly anticipated comeback plans. In a heartfelt message shared with fans, the artist opened up about an ongoing health issue that has affected her ability to perform at her best. As a result, she has decided to revise her upcoming schedule, prioritising recovery over planned activities. While the announcement has disappointed many who were eagerly awaiting her return, IU reassured fans that her focus remains on delivering music and performances that meet her standards. She also expressed gratitude for their patience and unwavering support during this period.

IU delays comeback plans

IU revealed that she has canceled her planned September concert at Goyang Stadium and postponed the release of her sixth studio album after her chronic Patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction worsened. Sharing a heartfelt letter with fans on Berriz, the singer explained that although she had hoped to move forward with her scheduled activities, her health made it impossible."My ear symptoms have always been erratic, fluctuating between good and bad, but recently, they have persisted day and night for days at a time," IU wrote. "I have repeatedly found it difficult to regain my form while singing." She explained that the September Goyang Stadium concert, along with her domestic tour, had been planned as the centerpiece of her comeback. However, because her condition has continued to affect her performances, she ultimately decided to cancel the shows to focus on recovery.

IU also shared that she had already completed recording her sixth studio album. However, since its promotional activities were designed around the concert and tour, the release has been pushed back by a few months. Apologizing to fans for the unexpected change, IU wrote, "I'm truly sorry, and I love you so much."Despite the delay, the singer reassured fans that she remains committed to returning with new music. She promised to present "a diverse new album" and expressed her determination to begin 2027 together with fans after taking the necessary time to recover.

IU takes legal action against malicious troll

IU has taken her fight against online defamation to the United States, seeking a federal court's assistance in obtaining evidence from Meta to identify an anonymous social media user accused of spreading false and defamatory claims about her. Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, said the information, including account details and IP records, will be used in criminal proceedings in South Korea as it continues its legal action against malicious online harassment.
