What Is Satluj Controversy?
Satluj was earlier titled
Panjab 95. The Honey Trehan-directed film is a biopic of
Jaswant Singh Khalra. He was the one who uncovered the evidence of the truth behind the death of 2000 people in Tarn Taran, Punjab, after the assassination of then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In 1995, Jaswant was reportedly abducted and killed after his investigation had sparked worldwide protests. The film was supposed to be released in 2023, but the Central Board of Film Certification didn’t clear the film’s release due to its political content and potential influence on the viewers. The board had suggested over 120 cuts in Satluj. However, the makers held their grounds against the CBFC demands. Satluj was also scheduled to be premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023, but it didn’t happen since the film was still expecting a verdict from the Bombay High Court. After three years, the makers silently released Satluj on ZEE5. Satluj also stars Arjun Rampal, Suvinder Vicky, Geetika Vidya and others in key roles. Stay tuned for more updates!
