Messi meets Spider-Man in Brand New Day promo
On social media, Sony Pictures dropped the new clip, which showed Holland's Peter Parker literally tripping over his feet to find the football icon in a New York cafe. But when he sees that Messi is tracking
Spider-Man on his phone through the website that shows sightings around the world, Peter promises to be right back.
In the next instant, Spider-Man appears and asks a surprised Messi if he's scared of heights. The next clip sees Spider-Man give the Inter Miami player a bird's-eye view of New York City as they swing through buildings. Messi and his country's team are now headed to the round of 32, where any team can be knocked out, at the FIFA World Cup 2026. The footballer becomes the all-time goalscorer in World Cup history as Argentina faces Cape Verde next on July 3.
What is Spider Man Brand New Day about?
After
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), no one remembers Peter Parker, including his friends MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Batalon). As Peter fights crime full-time as Spider-Man, a new threat emerges in the city, and the young man finds his powers evolving as well.
Stranger Things star Sadie Sink joins the film in a mysterious new role, while
Severance's Tramell Tillman and
The Bear's Liza Colón-Zayas are also part of the fourth film. Marvin Jones III plays a new villain named Lonnie Lincoln aka Tombstone.
As revealed before,
Brand New Day will not be releasing in
IMAX. Instead the Marvel and Sony co-production becomes the first Hollywood film to be mastered for EPIQ, a premium large format for screenings, in India. The screenplay is co-written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers and
Challengers' Justin Kuritzkes. Filmed in the UK, the film's title is taken from the 2008 comic book storyline called
Brand New Day.
