playback singer S Janaki will be accorded a state funeral in Mysuru on July 12 following her demise at the age of 88. The Karnataka government announced that she would receive full state honours in recognition of her unparalleled contribution to Indian music. Over a career spanning more than six decades, Janaki recorded over 48,000 songs across 20 languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Before the final rites, fans and admirers will have an opportunity to pay their last respects to the iconic singer.

Taking to social media Mysuru district in-charge minister Dr S Yathindra, mentioned that
S Janaki's mortal remains will be kept at Maharaja College Grounds from 7.30 am on Sunday for public homage. Paying tribute to the legendary vocalist, Dr S Yathindra mentioning about her six-decade-long journey in Indian music and praised her melodious voice.
The news of S. Janaki's demise was first shared by her granddaughter Apsara Vydyula through an emotional social media post. She revealed that the singer passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Apsara remembered her grandmother not only as an iconic voice whose songs became part of countless memories but also as a loving figure known for her humility, kindness, and grace.
