Right from Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Khatta Meetha to this year’s superhit horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, Priyadarshan has tapped into their best potential, and laughs continue irrespective of the genre and setting. With Welcome To The Jungle, Akshay and Rajpal reunite for another laugh riot. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Yadav recalled Priyadarshan’s words for the famous duo. Praising Akshay for his passion and dedication, the veteran actor called him a ‘sunehera sikka’ (golden coin) in the history of Bollywood.

Rajpal told Zoom exclusively, “Priyadarshanji ne ek aisi line boli ki main uske saamne natmastak ho gaya. Voh bole, ‘Itne filmein karne ke baad main Akshay aur Rajpal ko dekhta hu toh Tom and Jerry ki yaad aati hai. Akshay Tom hai, Rajpal Jerry hai.’”(Translation: Priyadarshan said one line for Akshay, and I bow down to him for that. He said, ‘After doing so many films together, Akshay and Rajpal remind me of Tom and Jerry. Akshay is Tom, Rajpal is Jerry.’)

Abhi Welcome To The Jungle mein bhi, aisa lagta hai ki kisine abhi kaam shuru kiya hai. Voh har tarah ke kaam ke liye passionate rehte hai. Humare Bollywood mein kitne chamatkari ajoobe, sunehere sikke hai 100 saal ke industry mein, Akshay paaji bhi ek sunehera sikka hai.”(Translation: I have immense respect for Akshay. He has inspired through his work. He has had such an amazing and long journey. When we see Welcome To The Jungle, it seems he has just started working. He does every role passionately. There have been many miraculous wonders and people with a Midas touch. Akshay is one of them.)

Welcome To The Jungle features Akshay in the role of Rajiv, an actor who once enjoyed stardom, but he is struggling to sustain his stardom after his downfall. Rajpal plays the role of a director with zero knowledge of filmmaking. The film is directed by Ahmed Khan. It is their second film this year after Bhooth Bangla in April.
