All eight films in the Harry Potter film franchise starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will be screened again on the big screen as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations. The first of September traditionally marks the start of the school year at Hogwarts, and Warner Bros has planned a global celebration to celebrate the franchise. The eight films are set to be released worldwide from August 27 to September 3, 2026. The first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, will also contain 12 minutes of unseen behind-the-scenes footage. In some international territories, the film is known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
All Harry Potter films are coming back to the big screen
Tickets for all eight Harry Potter films are set to go on sale internationally on July 31. The one-week re-release is part of the studio's 2026 Back to Hogwarts showcase, which will culminate with the release of the
TV series,
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, on Christmas Day, December 25, on HBO Max.
Radcliffe played the boy wonder Harry Potter, while Grint and Watson played his friends Ron and Hermione from Gryffindor house. The rest of the A-list British stars included Alan Rickman, Robbie Coltrane, Dame Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, and Michael Gambon. The eight films were directed by Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell and David Yates, who directed the last four films in the franchise.
More Harry Potter celebrations for the 25th anniversary
A one-day fan event is going to be held on September 1, 2026, in London, England, with several interactive moments and giveaways. The studio has asked fans to avoid going to King's Cross Station in London, as many gather annually there to celebrate students going away to Hogwarts. More details on ticketing and other locations are awaited. Besides England, events are planned in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, China, Australia and Japan.
There will be a massive wand lesson at the Orangerie Gardens in Paris’ Château de Versailles, a special screening in Venice, fan celebrations in Madrid and Sydney, and other events in Berlin and China. The Harry Potter theme parks at Universal Studios around the world, as well as the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in cities like London and Tokyo, will also be hosting special events.
