The tragedy reportedly unfolded at the Elegant Terrace Apartment complex in the city's RR Nagar area, setting off an immediate police response. According to preliminary reports, it was reportedly Krishi Thapanda herself who contacted authorities after becoming aware of the situation. An unnatural death case has since been formally registered at the RR Nagar Police Station, and a probe has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to The Times of India, the deceased, identified as Vaishak, had reportedly visited the actress's apartment on Wednesday night. The flat is reportedly Krishi Thapanda's rented residence, and the actress had apparently been away from the premises for several days before the incident took place. Reports suggest the actress contacted the police control room late Wednesday night after being alerted to the situation, following which officers from the RR Nagar Police Station arrived and conducted an initial inspection.
Forensic teams were reportedly deployed and evidence collected from the apartment. The body was subsequently transferred to Victoria Hospital, Bengaluru, for a post-mortem examination. As per the publication, officials confirmed that the cause of death will only be established once the autopsy report is received. Vaishak's mobile phone has reportedly been seized and is being examined for communication records and digital activity to proceed with the investigation further in this case.
