She said that she was not surprised by the comparisons but found them pointless, as according to her, Ally is a completely different person.

In an interview with Filmfare, Kriti was asked which character from the original she would have chosen to play from the first Cocktail. She said that she would definitely choose Veronica as it had a lot of "depth and damage." She added that there was a whole arc and many layers to her. The actress called it a slightly edgier role for that time.Addressing the comparisons, she said that she did expect it as it was obvious since she was doing a film which is a sequel to the one that Deepika had done before. She admitted that the characters, somewhere, had a similar energy of being slightly disruptive, unhinged, and free-spirited.Kriti, however, stated, "But Ally and Veronica are so different and I’m glad that they’re different. Why would I play the same character that Deepika has already done? That doesn’t make sense. "According to her, this is what made Cocktail 2 fresh. She further said that it was a completely different story with different conflicts and different characters. She said that Ally had her own personality, even though it may seem like it was coinciding somewhere. She is a completely different person from Veronica, said Kriti.
