Vijay's Jana Nayagan finally hit theatres on July 23 amid immense excitement from fans. Marking Vijay's farewell film before his full-time political journey, the H Vinoth directorial opened to record-breaking numbers across India following a six-month delay. The release welcomed celebrations across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states, with fans and several celebrities flocking to theatres to watch the actor on the big screen one last time. Amid the film's successful release, Jana Nayagan lyricist Vivek recalled an interesting incident when Vijay watched a Tamil film in a theatre incognito, managing to enjoy the experience without revealing his identity.

Jana Nayagan Lyricist Vivek Reveals How CM Vijay Secretly Watched a Tamil Film in a Theatre

Speaking to the Galatta YouTube channel, lyricist Vivek recalled the time he watched a film in a theatre with Thalapathy Vijay.Vivek revealed that after watching Thiruchitrambalam, he returned to the sets of Vijay's film and told the actor how much he had enjoyed it. Vijay then asked why he had not been invited to join him for the screening. Initially taken aback, Vivek wondered how the actor could possibly watch a film in a public theatre without being recognised, especially since they were in Hyderabad, where both Tamil and Telugu audiences would easily identify him.

However, Vijay insisted on going. Vivek booked tickets at AMB Cinemas, (owned by Mahesh Babu). On reaching the theatre and seeing the large crowd, Vivek admitted he became nervous. However, Vijay assured him that everything will go well. He wore a cap and a face mask, concealing his identity. At the ticket counter, he quietly gestured towards Vivek to present the tickets, allowing them to enter without much attention. He then said "In the theatre, we were joined by Jagadish (Vijay's Manager). As soon as we watched the film, we got into the car, and then Vijay sir called Dhanush sir to congratulate him on the film. It is not obligatory for him to do so but he did that call of appreciation."

Released in 2022, Thiruchitrambalam, starring Dhanush and Nithya Menen, went on to surpass the Tamil Nadu lifetime box office collection of Vijay's Beast. Written and directed by Mithran Jawahar, the family entertainer revolves around two childhood best friends whose relationship gradually blossoms into love.
