Her death has left the Telugu film fraternity in mourning. The news comes just months after concerns over her deteriorating health and financial struggles resurfaced, which led producer Dil Raju to step in and extend assistance to the veteran actress.

Pavala Shyamala passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest at around 1:52 am while undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad. The veteran actress had been battling several age-related health issues, including coronary artery disease, hypertension and Parkinson's disease. Her mortal remains have been shifted to the hospital mortuary, and her last rites are expected to be held later today.

Shyamala is survived by her daughter, who has also faced prolonged health challenges. In recent years, the actress's financial condition became a matter of public concern. A fundraiser launched by filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK in 2021 revealed that her daughter was bedridden with tuberculosis, while Shyamala herself struggled to meet medical expenses. Over the years, actors including Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Allu Arjun, Sai Durgha Tej and producer Dil Raju stepped forward to support the veteran actress financially.

Earlier this year, Shyamala made headlines after reports emerged about her deteriorating financial condition. She went on to appear in more than 250 films, becoming one of Telugu cinema's character actors. She was best known for her comic performances in Babai Hotel, Khadgam, Andhrawala, Athadu, Varsham, Golimaar and Bendu Apparao R.M.P., sharing screen space with stars including Chiranjeevi, Prabhas, Jr NTR and Allu Arjun. Her final major credited appearance came in Mathu Vadalara (2019).
