After
the release of Cocktail 2 this past month, fans have been wondering about Shahid Kapoor's next movie. Recent rumours seem to indicate that Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya actor Shahid Kapoor had signed Adal Badal, helmed by director Amit Ravindranath Sharma. However, those rumours are false. The Badhaai Ho and Maidaan director's comedy film is set to begin filming later this year. But Shahid won't be a part of the upcoming feature as the cast is yet to be finalised. Here's what we know so far about Amit Ravindranath Sharma's Adal Badal.
Shahid Kapoor is not part of Adal Badal
On June 30, a report claimed that
Shahid Kapoor had signed on to Amit Ravindranath Sharma's
Adal Badal for a fee of Rs 18 crore. The actor would also get a profit in the backend if the madcap comedy made a profit. He was set to be paired with Janhvi Kapoor on the film produced by Sunir Kheterpal in association with Amazon MGM Studios.
A
Filmfare report states that Shahid being part of the film is false and is just rumours. The source added, "Any speculation around his casting in the film is entirely incorrect." The earlier report had shared that
Adal Badal was set to begin filming in October and the story would revolve around the concept of soul swapping. Amit Ravindranath Sharma became known after his second film
Badhaai Ho starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao, became a blockbuster. He later went on to direct a segment in the Netflix anthology
Lust Stories 2 in 2023 and the sports biopic
Maidaan about football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, played by Ajay Devgn. The long-delayed Hindi film had been released in theatres in April 2024.
