Why Is Kala Hiran Controversial?
Although the makers have repeatedly maintained that the characters featured in
Kala Hiran are fictional, the film has drawn comparisons to Salman Khan's 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The first-look teaser introduced a character named Ayaan Khan, whose appearance and mannerisms sparked speculation among viewers due to similarities with the Bollywood superstar. However, the filmmakers have not used Salman Khan's name anywhere in the promotional material.Govind Namdev's presence in the teaser further fueled discussions, especially considering the actor has worked alongside Salman Khan in several films throughout his career. Namdev expressed disappointment over the teaser and publicly clarified his position regarding the project. The actor stated that he was surprised after watching the promotional material and felt that the final version differed significantly from the film he believed he was participating in. According to Namdev, he was not aware that a character resembling Salman Khan would be presented in the manner seen in the teaser. He also indicated that he felt misled about the project's direction and said that he would not knowingly be involved in a film perceived as targeting Salman.
Despite the criticism, the makers of
Kala Hiran have continued to defend the film and insist that its characters are fictional. While acknowledging that the project is inspired by the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, they have maintained that it is not intended to portray any real-life individual directly.
