It stars Riteish Deshmukh as Shivaji, with Genelia Deshmukh as Saibai, Sanjay Dutt as Afzal Khan, and Vidya Balan as Khadija Sultana. The gamble clearly paid off, with the film turning into a massive blockbuster across all languages. On its opening day alone, the film netted Rs 12.40 crore. It then held strong with Rs 11.50 crore on Saturday, becoming the first Marathi film ever to deliver double-digit figures for two consecutive days.After two weeks and the third weekend, the film's collection stood at Rs 109.9 crore in India and Rs 4.9 crore overseas, for a worldwide gross of Rs 114.8 crore. At the end of its theatrical run, Raja Shivaji had collected over Rs 130 crore against its Rs 75 crore budget, becoming the highest-grossing Marathi movie of all time. It is a landmark achievement for Marathi cinema and for Riteish Deshmukh as a filmmaker.
