The actress left everyone shocked right at the beginning of the show when she announced her separation from her husband. Days later, Shreya Kalra’s revelation about Chamola's sexuality created headlines. Akanksha proudly accepted her truth and announced on the show that she was bisexual. She has also been vocal about her marital struggles with Gaurav and her public image. Recently, she spoke about being misunderstood for behaving a certain way despite being the wife of a popular actor.

Akanksha, Sufi Motiwala, Yogesh Rawat, Harshad Chopda, and Shivangi Joshi landed in trouble after being "at risk" of elimination. The jailers, Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, had the power to save one contestant.Taking Akanksha out of danger, Farah said,

Akanksha was happy to be saved and became emotional. She said, "Thank you so much. It feels great to get this validation from you all. It feels very good because in the last few months, I have been so misunderstood, across the entire country… for being someone's wife and behaving in a certain way. Now if I am clearing certain doubts about people, and about how a woman is supposed to behave and how she is, I am very glad that you have explained that to me. It really means a lot. I am very grateful."
Dheeraj Dhoopar says Akanksha Chamola makes him uncomfortable

He questioned contestants about their game inside the reality show and schooled some of them.When Arjun asked Dhoopar who was a "red flag" in the house, he took Chamola's name. He said that her behaviour made him uncomfortable. When a visibly upset Akanksha confronted him, he clarified that it was not about something she had done to him but about the way she behaved, spoke, and carried herself.
