After days of temporary restrictions linked to the NEET-UG re-examination period, Telegram has resumed normal operations for most users. Messages are being delivered again, channels and groups are accessible and the popular messaging platform has also returned to both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. However, many users have noticed that one familiar feature is still missing. Keep reading to know why Telegram users in India can send messages but still cannot edit them.Over the past few hours, numerous of users have reported that while the Dubai-based messaging app is functioning normally, attempts to edit previously sent messages continue to fail. The issue isn't a bug or technical glitch. Instead, it is tied to the same restrictions that affected
the platform during the examination period. The WhatsApp rival's message-editing feature allows users to modify sent messages without deleting and reposting them. It has become one of Telegram's most widely used tools, especially in large groups, public channels and active personal conversations where information often needs updating or correcting. So Why Is It Still Unavailable? The answer goes back to concerns surrounding the NEET-UG re-examination. Authorities had earlier imposed restrictions on Telegram after allegations that certain groups were being used to circulate misleading exam-related content. According to officials, some bad actors were allegedly using Telegram's editing functionality to alter older messages and make it appear as though examination material had been shared before the test took place. While broader access restrictions have now been lifted, the limitation on editing messages remains in effect separately. As of now, users can continue chatting, sharing files, joining groups, and participating in channels, but once a message is sent, it cannot be modified. The restriction is expected to remain in place until June 30. Unless new directions are issued, the feature should return after that date.Until then, Telegram users who need to correct mistakes or update information have only one sensible option: delete your original message and send a revised version. It's not the most convenient workaround, especially for people managing large communities, but for now, it remains the only solution.
