Jailer 2 Is NOT Hrithik Roshan, Rajinikanth's First Act Together

Roshan is all set to make a special appearance in Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie Jailer 2. The film will release on September 11, 2026. Now, as Jailer 2 is creating a widespread buzz for its action theme featuring the legendary Rajinikanth, the special cameo appearance by Hrithik has added to its anticipation. Though it will not be the first time that audiences are going to witness Hrithik and Rajinikanth pairing on-screen together. Nearly four decades ago, the actors appeared in a movie together, where Hrithik starred as a child artist.

Hrithik Roshan And Rajinikanth’s First Film Together

In 1986, Hrithik and Rajinikanth shared the screen space for the very first time. Directed by J Om Prakash, the film was titled Bhagwaan Dada. The ten-year-old Hrithik Roshan appeared on screen, playing Govinda, the adopted son of Bhagwaan Dada (Rajinikanth). The film follows the story of the latter, who redeems himself as a criminal after his love for the child, Govinda. He adopts him as an orphaned boy after his mother, Shanti, is raped by Shambhu (Danny Denzongpa).

Rajinikanth, with his titular role, was joined by an ensemble cast, including Rakesh Roshan, Sridevi, Tina Munim, Paresh Rawal, Danny Denzongpa and Hrithik Roshan. The film was produced by Rakesh Roshan himself.

Hrithik On Working With Rajinikanth

Earlier at an event for the Netflix show, The Roshans, Hrithik revealed that “I had no idea that I was standing with the greatest legend of all time”. The Krrish actor also reminisced about the emotional memory of working with Rajinikanth, whom he used to call “Rajini Uncle.” Further, Hrithik mentioned how Rajinikanth “was so gentle and so giving”. Calling himself an “ignorant, foolish boy” at the time, he recalled how Thalaivar used to take all the blame after the former messed up a shot.

According to reports by Pinkvilla, Hrithik shot for the film with Rajinikanth for a period of two days in Chennai. He will be seen in a key role. The film brings back the dynamic duo once again after 40 years.

Jailer 2 is a Tamil action-comedy film written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. It is a sequel to the original movie, titled Jailer, which was released in 2023. Rajinikanth will be reprising his role along with SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Vidya Balan and others like Hrithik Roshan. The film was wrapped in April and is all set for its theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
