Meiyang Chang on his Bengali monologue in Taarkata
Speaking exclusively to us, Meiyang Chang admitted that the first day of his shooting for
Taarkata was tough because he had a lot of Bengali dialogues in the show. The actor wanted to get pronunciation and intonation right. Chang also didn't want to rely on dubbing for it.
"I wanted to get it right on set because I'm very in favour of sync sound and the organic stuff that happens while you're doing it. Of course, when there's no option, then you dub it. Toh pehle hi din mujhe thoda sa darr lag raha tha because maine request kiya tha director se ki please aisa mat hone dena. But scheduling, availability, location, all of that led to a situation where I had the longest Bengali monologue on day one," Chang revealed. The actor added that once a person starts shooting, they understand and get comfortable with the language. He believes one realises where they're going right and wrong.
"Toh I was like ye agar teesre, chauthe din pe bhi aata, ya phir somewhere towards the end aata, toh koi problem nahi hoti because by that time, I would have gotten into the process. Pehle hi din aaya aur that was supposed to be the last shot of the day. By the time I reached the set, I got to know that we were already running about three hours late. And that means that iss scene (ke liye) aapko shayad do takes ya teen hi takes milenge maximum. Uske baad the crew will leave," he added.Despite the hurdles he faced, Meiyang managed to do the monologue in just two takes as he had been practicing and everyone around him was supportive. "And that I count as a big victory for myself," the actor said.
