Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is going to complete 18 years of successful run on television. The show, created by Asit Kumarr Modi, first aired on July 28, 2008. Since then, the sitcom has enjoyed an uninterrupted run on the small screen. Recently, media reports suggested that Dilip Joshi, who plays Jethalal Gada, has quit the television show. After the rumours surfaced online, the makers of TMKOC dismissed them, urging fans to ignore them. Now, the actor has broken his silence and shut down the speculations of his exit from the sitcom.

During a press conference, Dilip was asked about the rumours of him quitting Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah after 18 years. To this, the actor said, "What can I say? Social media has both advantages and disadvantages. Some people use it to earn views and grab eyeballs by publishing such stories."

The TMKOC actor further expressed disappointment over publising of such stories without any investigation. According to Dilip, one must verify with the production house whether the news is 'fake' or true. "Nowadays, everyone seems to be in a race thinking that if they don't publish immediately, they'll be left behind," he added.He further urged reputed agencies and media houses to reach out to the production house or any concernd person to confirm whether the speculation is true or not. Dilip Joshi also recalled that Asit Kumarr Modi reached out to him to know what had happened when rumours spread like wildifre on social media. "I told him, 'What can we do? I hardly watch such things," he stated.
