Ramayana At Comic-Con: Ranbir Kapoor Reveals He Found It 'Very Daunting' To Play Lord Ram

Kapoor will be seen as Lord Ram in Namit Malhotra’s mythological epic Ramayana. The team is currently at San Diego Comic-Con for the grand trailer launch. At the event, Ranbir opened up about his initial fears and doubts when he was first offered the project. However, he said those feelings soon turned into gratitude as he considers the role a blessing and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The actor also spoke about representing Lord Ram’s values and described the journey as overwhelming. Ranbir is attending Comic-Con 2026 alongside Yash and Namit Malhotra.

Talking to Rama's Screen at the San Diego Comic-Con, Ranbir said, "When the film was first offered to me, there was so much fear, so much doubt - 'Will I be able to do this? Am I capable enough?' But the doubt changed into gratitude very early on. I think it's a blessing and an opportunity of a lifetime and a moral responsibility."He added that the Ramayana is deeply ingrained in people’s subconscious and that Lord Ram has been a symbol of courage, compassion, forgiveness and righteousness for generations. Ranbir said, "He stands for courage, compassion, forgiveness, righteousness and just to have the opportunity to represent that is very daunting. But, very early on I realised that it just requires a lot of patience, lot of belief, truthfulness, noble intentions. "He said that the entire cast and crew shared the same vision of telling the story as authentically as possible.

Talking about the epic’s many interpretations, Ranbir said that the Ramayana has been adapted through radio, musicals, television shows and films, with many more interpretations likely in the future. He highlighted the story’s complexity and spirituality, adding that while DNEG’s technology will help present it on a grand scale in 3D IMAX, the heart, emotions and spiritual essence of the Ramayana must remain intact for it to connect with audiences.

Ramayana Trailer Launch Postponed

The makers were expected to release the trailer online today. However, hours before the launch, they announced that it has beenpostponed to a later date.Namit, in an official statement, said that they had partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment and, in the wake of this collaboration, decided to postpone the trailer launch. Fans, who had been eagerly waiting for the preview to drop, were left disappointed.While Ranbir plays Lord Ram, Yash will be seen as Raavan and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. The film also stars Ravi Dubey, Lara Dutta, Sunny Deol and others in key roles. It is slated to release this Diwali.
