After
three years of delay due to certification issues, Honey Trehan's Satluj was released on ZEE5 on July 3. Previously titled Punjab '95, the film was taken down from the streaming platform within 48 hours of its premiere. Starring Diljit Dosanjh, Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder Vicky, and Arjun Rampal, the movie received positive feedback from critics and audiences. Post its release and removal from OTT, Zoom exclusively interviewed actor Kanwaljit Singh, who revealed that his scene with Diljit was removed. He also called his co-star a 'thorough gentleman'.
Kanwaljit Singh talks about his Satluj scene with Diljit Dosanjh
On being asked about his special memory with Diljit from
Satluj set,
Kanwaljit Singh shared, "
Ek scene tha Diljit aur mera, vo nikal diya gaya tha because director ne kaha aisa ek scene ho chuka hai unke saath. So we don't want to (do it again). (The director said) 'it's better to edit it here rather than editing table
pe shoot karke nikala jaye'.
Mera ek hi scene tha chota sa."
The senior actor, who plays DGP Bitta, further recalled meeting his co-stars in hotel after their shoot. Praising Diljit, who portrays human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, the
Satluj actor added, "He is a thorough gentleman and very passionate about his art, singing and whatever he does.
Inhone bohot hi empathetically ye role nibhaaya hai. There is no doubt about it. And he has done a very good job."
Kanwaljit Singh on Satluj's removal from OTT
Continuing the conversation, Kanwaljit Singh reacted to
Satluj's removal from the streaming platform. Highlighting that freedom of speech is being strangled, the actor mentioned, "
Hum freedom of speech ki agar baat karte hai, you are strangling it. Ab ye history ho chuki hai. Agar backlash ka hi aapko problem tha, iska matlab, jab bhi film Hitler par banegi ya uss holocaust pe banegi, toh backlash hoga, uska reaction hoga. Aisa nahi hota hai, time heals a lot."
Apart from him and Diljit,
Satluj features Arjun Rampal as CBI officer Samudra Singh, Suvinder Vicky as SSP Surjit Singh Sugga, Saurabh Sachdeva as Satnam, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan as Paramjit Kaur, and more. The movie has been produced by RSVP Movies and MacGuffin Pictures. Director Honey has co-written this project with Niren Bhatt and Utsav Maitra.Did you enjoy watching
