Instagram
is planning to bring new features that could give more control of their feeds to users. The Mark Zuckerberg-led platform is testing possible changes revealed by the Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who shared that the company is experimenting with making its ‘Your Algorithm’ feature easier to access across the app.Meta wants users to quickly tell Instagram what they to see more or less of while browsing their Reels and Feeds, Some of these features are already being tested, while others are still being explored.
Instagram Wants 'Your Algorithm' To Become More Accessible
As per Mosseri,
Instagram wants to make ‘Your Algorithm’ a more important part of the overall app experience instead of hiding it inside settings. The feature allows users to adjust recommendations by selecting topics they want to see more or avoid. Mosseri said, “We’re working on making Your Algorithm feel more present and useful across Instagram. I wanted to share a few ideas we’re exploring. Some of this is testing now, some is coming soon, some might not work. Let me know what you think. The idea is easy access right from the home screen.”He added, “Ideally, you can tune it in real time. We’re exploring quick signals (more of this, less of that) without interrupting what you’re watching. Over time, we want your algorithm to feel like something you talk to rather than something that happens to you.”
Mosseri’s preview highlighted several possible ways users could interact with the feature. One concept shows the Your Algorithm menu appearing after users pull down on their Instagram Feed. Another allows users to swipe up from a Reel to quickly adjust their content preferences. A third idea introduces simple buttons below Reels, letting users instantly tell Instagram whether they want to see more or fewer similar videos. If these experiments are rolled out widely, Instagram users could gain more direct control over the platform's recommendation system without digging through settings.
