All About Vijay's Parents

Vijay's father, SA Chandrasekhar, is a well-known director, writer, and producer in Tamil cinema. He directed more than 70 films and introduced Vijay to acting at a young age, shaping his early career. His mother, Shoba Chandrasekhar, is a respected playback singer, writer, and producer. She has contributed to many Tamil film soundtracks over the years.

In 2020, Vijay's father, SA Chandrasekhar, converted Vijay's fan club, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, into a political party without his consent, naming himself general secretary and Vijay's mother, Shoba, as treasurer. Vijay publicly distanced himself, denying any link to the party and urging fans not to join. When the situation didn't resolve, he filed a civil lawsuit in 2021 against 11 people, including his parents, seeking to stop them from using his name, image, or fan clubs for political purposes.

Vijay's Wife And Children

Vijay married Sangeetha Sornalingam in 1999. She belongs to a Tamil family based in the UK and always preferred staying away from the public eye, rarely appearing at events or on social media.

In February 2026, Sangeetha filed for divorce in a district court, seeking dissolution of marriage under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, on grounds of adultery and cruelty. Vijay has not issued any public statement on the matter, and the case is still before the court.The couple has two children together. Their son, Jason Sanjay, was born in 2000 and studied filmmaking in Canada before pursuing screenwriting in London. He is set to make his directorial debut with Sigma.
