The global AI race is no longer limited to the United States and China. Countries around the world are now looking to build sovereign AI and reduce their dependence on foreign technology. The US is currently leading the AI industry through companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft and Google, but the Trump administration is also paying close attention to who gets access to advanced AI models and how they are used. As a result, many countries, including India, are investing heavily in AI talent, infrastructure and research.Amid this growing race, former OpenAI researcher Shyamal Hitesh Anadkat announced on professional networking platform LinkedIn that he has moved back to India and is preparing to build something new in the AI space. In
a post shared on LinkedIn, Anadkat said he returned to India earlier this year after spending close to four years at OpenAI in the Bay Area. While he did not reveal details about his upcoming venture, he hinted that an announcement could be coming soon."I still believe deeply in ensuring true superintelligence accelerates science and remains accessible and beneficial to all. Having grown up here, I;ve also always felt deeply connected to this ecosystem," he wrote.
