Now, the director has generated huge buzz online as he returns with another sports film titled Kung Fu Soccer. The rights to this film have recently been acquired for international distribution.
Stephen Chow Returns With Kung Fu Soccer
Encore Films, a Singapore-based company, has received worldwide rights for Stephen Chow’s new feature film
Kung Fu Soccer. The film marks Chow’s directorial return to sports comedy after almost two decades.
According to the report by Variety,
Kung Fu Soccer follows the story of Emei Women’s Football Team in a fictional tournament titled the Supreme Invincible Cup. As always, Chow will blend martial arts with sports elements, previously seen in
Shaolin Soccer. The star cast includes Zhang Xiaofei, Dilraba Dilmurat and Lay Zhang Yixing.

Kung Fu Soccer, after securing worldwide distribution rights, will bring back Chow’s magic once again to the global audience. Joyce Lee, the managing director of the distribution channel, praised Stephen Chow and regarded him as the King of Comedy/ She also gave a glimpse of what fans can expect from this movie. According to her, “
Kung Fu Soccer’s magic involves imagination, action, heart and comedy.” While most football films focus on winning the match, this film asks how they achieve the victory by defying physics, she added.

The New King of Comedy, Kung Fu Soccer, became Stephen Chow’s first feature film as a director. The film will also be released in a multi-language format, including Mandarin, Cantonese, English, Korean, Japanese and Thai. FIFA World Cup 2026 craze.

Shaolin Soccer came out in 2001, it grossed over USD 42 million. The title of the film
Kung Fu Soccer is a blended version of his previous blockbusters mentioned above. This has brought the internet into a fan frenzy as they wait for the nostalgia to hit back with modern adaptations. The real deal will be revealed after the trailer release.
