Khan’s Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace intends to celebrate the Indian army’s bravery and valour during the Battle of Galwan against China. The film directed by Apoorva Lakhia is ready for release, but not certified yet. Recently, there were reports of the war biopic getting postponed to 2027. While the makers are yet to announce the release date of Maatrubhumi, Salman dodged a question about the film at a recent event. The Bollywood superstar humourously asked reporters not to talk about the Battle of Galwan biopic.

Salman Khan dodges Maatrubhumi release date question

Salman was at the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) office in Mumbai to inaugurate the newly developed Data Collection and Segregation Support Centre (IT Server Room). During his visit, the actor spoke to reporters and requested that they not ask anything about Maatrubhumi. He smiled and said, Ask me anything, not that one question. There is no point in asking about that.”

Why is Maatrubhumi postponed?

Maatrubhumi was earlier scheduled to release in April. However, it was postponed indefinitely. According to a news portal, the Central Board of Film Certification reportedly withheld the clearance certificate. Reacting to it, the makers clarified that they are yet to send the final print to the CBFC for certification. An official statement read, “Any claims suggesting that Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace has encountered issues with the CBFC or that its certification has been put on hold are false. The film has not yet been submitted to the CBFC for certification. Therefore, such reports are entirely baseless. We request that media outlets and individuals refrain from circulating unverified information. Any official updates regarding the film will be shared by Salman Khan Films through its official channels only.”

Maatrubhumi undergoes changes

Earlier titled Battle Of Galwan, the film had to undergo some changes. While it hasn’t been rewritten or reshot completely, its tonality has shifted from a war film to a human drama. As per Mid-Day’s report, the team shot additional parts depicting family sequences and love stories of a few supporting characters. Instead of war, the focus will be on family and relationships. Maatrubhumi has retained some war portions, but with the omission of references to China and Galwan, the original aim of telling the story has been lost.As per the portal, the makers of Maatrubhumi are in no hurry to send the film to the CBFC, the Ministry of Defence, and the Army.
