Amaran won three honours at the 72nd National Film Awards, including Best Director, Best Music Director and Best Editor. About Amaran

Amaran is based on India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes, a novel written by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. The film tells the story of real-life hero Major Mukund Varadarajan, an officer in the Indian Army’s Rajput Regiment. He is remembered as a fearless leader who prioritised his team’s safety and well being. Amaran also stars Rahul Bose, Bhuvan Arora, Haethakshi, Lallu, Anbu Thasan, Shreekumar, Shyamprasad, Geetha Kailasam and others in key roles. The film is produced by Kamal Haasan, R Mahendran and Vivek Krishnani under Raaj Kamal Films International, Turmeric Media and Sony Pictures Film India banners. It was released on October 31, 2024 on the occasion of Diwali. Amaran was shot in Jammu and Kashmir, Chennai and Pondicherry. Coming back to the National Film Awards, Mammootty and Kartik Aaryan won Best Actor honours for their performances in Bramayugam and Chandu Champion, respectively.
