As excitement builds up weeks before Tom Holland returns to swing back in our theatres, J.K. Simmons has confirmed he will not be appearing in the upcoming Marvel film, ending months of speculation about another outing as Daily Bugle editor J. Jonah Jameson. The Oscar-winning actor reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home and also appeared during the post-credit sequence of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, further cementing his character's place within Marvel's interconnected universe.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Simmons laughed off persistent online rumours and made it clear fans should not expect to see him in the latest Spider-Man adventure. "Not in it, dude," Simmons said, leaving fans stunned. "I don't know who on the internet decided that that was a fact, but I ain't in it," he added.That clarification comes amid rampant fan speculation that Jameson could once again get involved in Peter Parker’s complicated life following the dramatic events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

JK Simmons first played the opinionated newspaper editor in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man in 2002. His performance soon became one of the most beloved comic book portrayals, and was praised for perfectly embodying the loud, demanding and often hilarious editor. He did not become part of the franchise for years, until he surprised audiences by returning for the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home, in which Jameson outs Spider-Man's identity to the world.In addition to the live-action movies, Simmons has voiced Jameson in several animated projects, including Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble.
