Kamal Haasan, Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi Congratulate Mammootty On Historic Fourth Win At 72nd National Film Awards

being bestowed with the Padma Bhushan by President Droupadi Murmu on June 23, 2026, Mammootty added yet another laurel to his career by winning his fourth National Film Award for the feature film Bramayugam. He shares the Best Actor trophy with actor Kartik Aaryan, who won for his performance in Kabir Khan's Chandu Champion. Afterwards, South stars Kamal Haasan, Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi, and even recent co-star Mohanlal all took to social media to share their wishes. Mammootty previously won Best Actor for the films Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Mathilukal in 1990, Vidheyan and Ponthan Mada in 1994 and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in 1999.

Wishes pour in for Mammootty's National Film Award win

Earlier, Kamal Haasan and Mammootty were tied at three wins each at the National Film Awards. With his latest for Bramayugam, the veteran actor has surpassed his friend. On X, Kamal Haasan shared his congratulations and wrote, "You once promised me you would overtake me in the number of National Awards. As always, you are a man of your word! Here's to many more accolades, my friend."

Mammootty's Patriot co-star Mohanlal also sent his "heartfelt congratulations" to his dear Ichakka. He posted, "This is a moment of immense pride for all of us and a recognition that is truly well deserved."

From the Telugu industry, Pushpa 2: The Rule actor Allu Arjun and Chiranjeevi Konidela also congratulated the veteran star. Chiranjeevi called his fourth win an "extraordinary achievement!" The Malayalam star holds the record for the most appearances in the final round of the National Film Award for Best Actor. He is now tied with Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan for the most wins at four a piece.

Besides the four National Film Awards, Mammootty also won eleven Kerala State Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards, and eleven Kerala Film Critics Awards for his work.
