composer and singer Amaal Mallik has announced a break from social media after sharing that health issues caused by overexertion and lack of sleep have caught up with him. The timing of his post has sparked conversations, as the post comes shortly after former Bigg Boss 19 co-contestant Kunickaa Sadanand appeared to take an indirect dig at Amaal over his public fallout with Baseer Ali. Mallik has not linked his post to any of this jab, but his post rather made it clear that his focus is currently only on his upcoming single AM141.

In a post addressed to his fans, Amaalians, Amaal Mallik said that working without proper rest for weeks has begun to affect his health. "I’m dealing with a few health issues due to overexertion & sleepless nights," he said. Despite this, he said that he cannot stop because AM141 is currently going through its mixing and mastering process, something he is not willing to rush or compromise on. He called AM141 the release he is most excited about, saying, "I’m most excited for this one, but there is a long mixing & mastering process that cannot be bypassed and needs me to work 29/7 for it to be just pure and perfect enough for you all," and he wants it to be just right before it reaches his fans.

He signed off saying, ‘Hence be patient & bear with me as I bring to you this heartfelt anthem. So here I am saying goodbye for a few days or weeks, until I’m back with AM141, stating that he would be away for a few days or weeks and asked fans to be patient.During Bigg Boss 19, he had openly spoken about being diagnosed with sleep apnea and clinical depression, which makes long stretches of sleepless work far harder on his body than it might be for others.

The Kunickaa Sadanand Background and What Else Is On Amaal's Plate

When Amaal's post-show friendship with Baseer Ali fell apart publicly earlier this year, Kunickaa commented while not naming anyone that using abusive language says a lot about a person, a statement many took as an indirect dig at Amaal. Kunickaa and Amaal had one of the most talked-about dynamics on Bigg Boss 19, with their fights inside the house getting personal on more than one occasion. Amaal later acknowledged that the situation had gone too far and expressed regret.

His social media break, though, appears to be about work more than anything else. Lyricist Rashmi Virag recently confirmed that one of his songs is part of the upcoming Emraan Hashmi film Awarapan 2, one composed by Amaal, said to be deep, emotional, rebellious and intense. It is the first time Amaal and Rashmi have collaborated in over ten years. The film, directed by Nitin Kakkar and also starring Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi, releases worldwide on August 14, 2026.
