Kapoor’s younger daughter, celebrity stylist and producer Rhea Kapoor, was robbed of diamond earrings worth Rs 1.35 crore. According to reports, it was stolen from her makeup artist, Savleen Singh’s, handbag. As per the Mumbai Police, earrings were rented from two Mumbai-based jewellers for a high-profile fashion event. After reaching New York, the team discovered that they were missing. A case has been registered against an unidentified person at Mumbai's Sahar Police Station. Rhea and the Kapoors are yet to confirm the incident.

As per IANS, Mumbai's Sahar Police Station has registered a case against an unknown person under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation. Savleen, who has been working with Rhea for the past seven years, was carrying the earrings with her. Rhea had been invited to attend the Met Gala on April 29.

Two pairs of expensive earrings were rented from Mehta Jewellers and Goenka Jewellers in Mumbai for the event. Savleen had the jewellery boxes in her handbag. Rhea’s team took a flight from Mumbai to Dubai on April 27 at 10:25 PM, and then they continued their journey to New York. According to the Mumbai Police, they arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport on April 28, at around 5:30 PM. They checked into The Pierre Hotel in New York.

As per the IANS report, Savleen opened the jewellery boxes in her hotel room to hand over the earrings to a team member named Shireen. She discovered that both boxes were empty. The missing jewellery included emerald-stone diamond gold earrings from Mehta Jewellers worth Rs 66 lakh and Zambian emerald-stone gold-bordered earrings from Goenka Jewellers worth Rs 69 lakh. After returning to Mumbai, Savleen filed a complaint at Sahar Police Station. Police subsequently registered an FIR under Section 303(2) of the BNS for theft. According to police officials, the FIR was registered based on her complaint. The earrings worth Rs. 1.35 crore were rented for the New York event. Reportedly, investigators are now examining the entire timeline, and Mumbai Police is currently trying to identify whether the theft occurred at Mumbai Airport, during the flight, or after the team arrived in New York.
