actor Gaurav Khanna and his wife Akanksha Chamola's separation has come as a major shock to their fans. The couple, who had often appeared happy together in public, are now heading for a divorce after years of marriage. Akanksha made the revelation during the premiere episode of Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, where she entered the reality show as a contestant. The actress disclosed that she and Gaurav have been living separately for the past year and that this was the first time she was speaking about their relationship issues publicly. In the latest episode, Akanksha opened up further and revealed that their differing views on parenthood played a major role in their separation.
Akanksha Opens Up About Not Wanting Children
During a conversation with fellow contestants Shreya Kalra and Sufi Motiwala,
Akanksha Chamola spoke candidly about her decision to remain child-free. She revealed that she never experienced a maternal instinct, even during her marriage to Gaurav. While she initially remained open to exploring the possibility of motherhood, she gradually realised that she was not meant to become a parent.
According to the actress, Gaurav initially accepted her feelings regarding parenthood, but their perspectives changed with time. Akanksha revealed that Gaurav eventually developed a strong desire to have children, while she remained certain about her decision not to become a mother. She said, "Now, he wants to have kids and I can't give him that. Nahi hein mere mein instinct, woh maine bohot pehle bol diya tha."The actress explained that she had communicated her feelings honestly from the beginning and never wanted to give her husband false hope. She further added, "Jab mujhe realise ho gaya ki main bani hi nahi hu iss cheez ke liye maine tabhi hi bol diya tha ki main nahi karne waali hoon. So we had a discussion where I told him if you want to leave me then leave me, fair enough."Akanksha also shared her thoughts about marriage and parenthood, saying that many people get married with the expectation of having children and building a family. The actress added that she does not blame Gaurav for wanting children. Instead, she believes both of them simply wanted different things from life. She further revealed that after Gaurav's stint on
Bigg Boss, she realised how strongly he desired parenthood. "For me, I don't want to put him in that situation," she said.
Akanksha also clarified that her decision to remain child-free extends beyond biological parenthood. The actress stated that she does not wish to adopt a child either, as she genuinely wants to live a child-free life.
Gaurav-Akanksha's Divorce News Revelation Shocked Fans
During the premiere of
Lock Upp 2, Akanksha had already revealed that she and Gaurav were
heading for a divorce. She said, "Gaurav and I are getting divorced. We are good together, but there is a compatibility issue. We have been living separately for the past one year. We didn't tell this to anyone. This is the first time I am talking about it on camera."Gaurav has not commented on the divorce news and Akanksha's confession at the time of reporting.
