excitement soars ahead of the release of Thalapathy Vijay's last film, Jana Nayagan, authorities have reportedly swung into action to prevent moviegoers in the state from paying exorbitant ticket prices. Despite unprecedented demand and sales, tickets for the H. Vinoth-directed film will be capped at Rs 190 in line with the state's fixed pricing regulations. Jana Nayagan makers recently confirmed that the movie was finally headed to theatres on July 23 after being delayed from its original Pongal date. It will also be released in Telugu as Jana Nayakudu and in Hindi as Jan Neta.

As per reports, the advance booking window for the action film is likely to begin from July 19 in Tamil Nadu. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan has already crossed Rs 4 crore in worldwide advance bookings by July 16, with massive interest shown in early overseas sales.Several neighbouring states have taken the flexible pricing route to sell premium first-day tickets for a few hundred rupees. But Tamil Nadu will continue with the government-approved ticket structure. NDTV quoted sources that said theatre owners in the state will strictly adhere to the pricing rules.

Theatres to be monitored

Its report also claimed that theatres may be monitored to avoid unofficial premium pricing that often accompanies major star releases, to ensure compliance with the approved ticket rates. It is learnt that Vijay himself wanted the release to be hassle-free and did not want to give the impression that special treatment was being given to his movie due to his political position.Ticket prices continue to be under control in Tamil Nadu, while the audiences in other states are paying much higher rates. In Karnataka, dynamic pricing is allowed, and the first-day tickets of Jana Nayagan were allegedly sold for Rs 800 to Rs 1,000, especially for morning shows.

Demand in rest of India

Outside South India, good demand is also being seen for the film. The report further stated that the shift of Vijay from actor to Chief Minister has brought more interest among movie-goers. The absence of big Hindi releases during the same period might also result in better footfalls.Also planned are special early morning screenings in a few cities. In Mumbai, Tamil-speaking centres like Malad, Sion and Andheri are planning 4 am shows, and cinemas across South India are likely to start screenings at 6 am on the day of release.

Other than this, fans are also waiting for the title card of the film, which is said to be introducing Vijay as "The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C.
