While OTT viewership is creating records worldwide, the streaming giant's latest What We Watched Report for January-June 2026 paints an impressive picture of India's growing influence, revealing that titles from our country generated a staggering 688 million views in just six months. From blockbuster films like Dhurandhar to acclaimed series such as Kohrra, Indian storytelling actually got millions of viewers across continents. Read on to know the biggest OTT hits this year.

What were Netfix's most watched films?

According to Netflix's What We Watched Report for the first half of 2026, India became the number one contributor to non-English film viewing on the platform. It also ranked third globally for overall film viewing, trailing only the United States and the United Kingdom. Four Indian films- Dhurandhar, Accused, Made in Korea and Mardaani 3 - earned places in Netflix's Global Top 100 Films list, showing the increasing international appetite for Indian cinema.

Leading the pack was Ranveer Singh's spy thriller Dhurandhar, which became the most-watched Indian film on Netflix during the reporting period with an impressive 37 million views, making it the biggest Indian streaming success of the first half of 2026. The film's OTT success is only rivalled by its equally amazing box office success. Netflix's original Indian films also recorded remarkable success globally. Five Netflix Original films secured spots in the Global Top 500 Films list. These include Accused, Made in Korea, Kartavya, Maa Behen and Toaster.Among these achievements, Made in Korea created history by becoming the first South Indian film to reach the No. 1 position on Netflix's Global Non-English Films chart at the time of its release. The milestone reflects the growing worldwide popularity of regional Indian cinema and its ability to transcend language barriers.

Indian series find audiences worldwide

Indian web series also enjoyed a landmark six months on Netflix, with multiple titles making the platform's global rankings across a variety of genres. Emraan Hashmi's Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web emerged as India's highest-ranked series ever on Netflix's Global Top 100 TV list, setting a new benchmark for Indian streaming content.

It was joined by five other Indian series in the Global Top 500 TV rankings: the controversial but binge-watch material Desi Bling, Maamla Legal Hai, Samay Raina's India's Got Latent, Glory and Kohrra. The diverse lineup is enough to show the growing international demand for Indian crime dramas, comedy, reality entertainment and scripted originals. Meanwhile, The Great Indian Kapil Show became the second most-viewed Indian series on Netflix in terms of viewing hours during the reporting period.
