Peddi Controversy and Cast
Besides Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, Peddi features Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, Boman Irani, Ravi Kishan, Viji Chandrasekhar, Rajatava Dutta, Satya, John Vijay and Ajay Ghosh in key roles. The Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Peddi sparked debate over its portrayal of Janhvi’s character, Achiyyamma, with critics and fans calling it hypersexualisation. Several objections were directed at what many described as problematic romantic scenes and unappealing camera work, particularly sequences that appeared to prioritise the male gaze over character development.
In response, director Buchi Babu Sana issued a public apology and confirmed that the controversial portions of the film had been edited out. Addressing the criticism, he clarified, “It was never our intention to objectify or disrespect any female character.” He further mentioned that if any portion of the film has been perceived differently, the team respects those sentiments and acknowledges the concerns raised.
