TN CM Vijay Wasn't FIRST Choice For Jana Nayagan, Director H Vinoth Approached Another Actor

Nayagan is one of the most anticipated releases of July. It will feature Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay in a lead role. Directed by H Vinoth, the movie is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on July 23. Ahead of it, the filmmaker stated that it shouldn't be viewed as actor Vijay's last film, but TN CM's first film. Speaking to a publication, Vinoth also recalled narrating Jana Nayagan's story to another actor before Thalapathy Vijay. Without naming anyone, the director revealed that the actor didn't have the courage to take up the movie.

In an interview with Cinema Viketan, director Vinoth stated that Jana Nayagan isn't just a commercial flick. According to him, it is an important polticial film, which isn't just made to praise on TV or glorify Thalapathy Vijay. The filmmaker beieves that even if people already know about this politics, watching Jana Nayagan will spark a lot of discussion.

Continuing the conversation, the filmmaker spoke about narrating Jana Nayagan to another actor before approaching Thalapathy Vijay. Vinoth had described his movie as a 'political story' and outlined the first half. However, the actor, who was initially approached, was cautious. Indian Express quoted the director recalling his conversation with the actor, "He asked, ‘Will it work in our place?' I said, 'Don’t know sir, we’ll see.' After that, he didn’t say anything about the strength of the film. The courage ended right there with this movie."

In the same interview, the filmmaker mentioned that Jana Nayagan's box poffice collection cannot be compared to other 'normal' films. "Because the things happening with this one are completely different. The release is getting postponed, lots of people have already seen it, and it’s releasing in a really intense and problematic situation," said Vinoth.

Apart from Thalapathy Vijay, the star cast of Jana Nayagan includes Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, and others. While this project has been produced by KVN Productions, Anirudh Ravichander has worked on its music. The supporting cast of this film also includes Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and others.
