Cara Delevingne on relationship with Amber Heard
Cara Delevingne has addressed long-standing rumours about her relationship with Amber Heard, confirming that the two became romantically involved after Heard's divorce from
Johnny Depp. Speaking on
The Louis Theroux Podcast, host brought up speculation that Depp had been "driven crazy by the idea that Amber might be sleeping with you." Responding to the claim, Delevingne said, "It's because we did a movie together, and it was called
London Fields. He was also doing the movie. I think he was pretty driven crazy by jealousy. Nothing was happening at that point. Later, after they divorced, it had, I suppose."When host asked her to clarify what she meant, Delevingne confirmed that she and Heard later became romantically involved. "We were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce, yeah, we were entangled. ... But she was also entangled with other people," she said. Theroux then mentioned billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, to which Delevingne replied, "There you go." Heard dated Musk after her split from Depp before the two eventually parted ways in early 2018.
Delevingne also reflected on the challenges of coming to terms with her sexuality. She recalled a conversation with former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who allegedly told her, "You should never be in a relationship with a woman... You'll never make it in the industry if people think you're gay.""I really believed him, and I really took that to heart," Delevingne admitted, adding that she now looks back and realizes the signs of her sexuality were evident from a young age. "I'm very proud of it now," she said, explaining that being open about her identity made her realize there was still "a lot to fight for" in terms of LGBTQ+ representation.
About Amber Heard and Johnny Depp legal case
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's legal battle became one of Hollywood's most closely watched courtroom cases in 2022. Depp sued Heard over a 2018
Washington Post op-ed in which she described herself as a survivor of domestic abuse, arguing that the article defamed him despite not naming him directly. Heard filed a countersuit, accusing Depp's attorney of defamation.
Following a televised trial that drew global attention, the jury largely ruled in Depp's favour, while Heard prevailed on one of her counterclaims. The case concluded in December 2022 when both parties reached a settlement, officially ending the years-long legal dispute.
