Shivaji Park saw lakhs of people uniting to protest against the Indian education system after the NEET paper leak fiasco. While students continue protesting peacefully at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, youth in Mumbai gathered for the same cause. Amid tight security and police deployment, people walked on the streets and stood by the larger cause. Imran Khan joined the protest at Shivaji Park today. One of the protestors shared a video of the actor walking with other supporters. The video went viral instantly, and the internet lauded the actor for taking a stand.

In the viral video, Imran quietly joined the protest. However, some of his fans recognised him. The actor graciously clicked pictures and selfies with them. On July 21, Khan had shared his reaction to the students' protest in Jantar Mantar turning violent due to police resorting to lathi charge.

Imran Khan backs protesting students

In an Instagram post, Imran wrote, “Something broke in me today. Watching as police gassed and battered student protesters... how could I make sense of this?” The actor further added, “These students who worked hard, only to be failed by the system. These people who asked to be heard, only to be met with silence. These citizens who stood up to show what matters to them... beaten down and disowned by the establishment.”The actor stated, “Those who demand ‘organisation' from students protesting education reform, but don't apply such lofty standards of accountability to established authority; bootlickers, one and all. If we don't listen to those who have the most at stake today, we forfeit all our tomorrows. There is no choice here but one; Solidarity with the students.”

Imran Khan reacts to NEET paper leak scandal

Earlier this month, Imran reacted to the NEET scandal and wrote on Instagram, “If we expect students to take exams with integrity, then they are also owed the same degree of accountability from the bodies which oversee the process. Surely this notion is true regardless of which football team (sorry... political party) you cheer for.”He added, “From the millions of students whose honest efforts were invalidated with barely a shrug; to the millions more who stood up and continue to stand against injustice... I see you. You raise your voices for the best in us, and it is my honour to stand beside you.”The protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi started in the last week of June. The students initiated the Chalo Sansad march on July 20, which turned violent. The protestors and the government are yet to arrive at a common ground.
