The Oscar-winning filmmaker has revealed that fans will likely have to wait at least three years before his next movie arrives. Reflecting on the making of the ambitious Greek epic, Nolan admitted the project pushed him to the limits of his own stamina and tested everyone involved. Starring Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, The Odyssey is Nolan's first feature since the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer and one of the biggest cinematic undertakings of his career.

While promoting The Odyssey on TODAY, Christopher Nolan revealed that fans may have to wait a long time before his next film arrives. When asked if it would be another three years before his next release, the Oscar-winning filmmaker replied, "Oh, at least."Nolan also explained why this was the right time to adapt Homer's epic. He said, "Now, I can get something made that I couldn't otherwise get made. For me to take on Greek mythology on a big modern cinematic canvas is something that hasn't been done."Speaking about the timeless appeal of The Odyssey, the filmmaker said the story blends several genres. "There's so much in it for everybody. It's a love story. It's a coming-of-age story. It's a story about war and homecoming. And I think that's the eternal appeal of The Odyssey," he shared.

The director also reflected on the physically demanding shoot and recalled warning Matt Damon that filming the epic would not be easy. Nolan said, "I have a feeling he didn't really understand until we got on the boat." He added that the actor only realised the scale of the challenge after reaching the remote filming locations and "hiking up a goat's path to Cyclops' cave," leading to "a sort of slow creeping realization" that making the film "was not going to be easy."Looking back on the production, Nolan admitted the ambitious project tested everyone involved. "I definitely hit the limits of my own stamina and everybody's stamina, I think. I mean, it's The Odyssey, of course it should be difficult. We're not doing the job right making a film of The Odyssey if it doesn't seem difficult," he said.

The Odyssey Indian box office collection

As per Sacnilk, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey opened to a strong response at the Indian box office. On Day 1, the epic collected Rs 17.40 crore net across 8,413 shows nationwide. With this, the film's India gross collection stands at Rs 20.76 crore, while its total India net collection is Rs 17.40 crore, marking an impressive start for Nolan's first release since Oppenheimer.
