Kanwaljit Singh on Satluj's removal from OTT
In conversation with us,
Kanwaljit Singh revealed that his project,
Satluj, was delayed for around 2.5 years. "L
afz labour lost toh nahi hua. Vo hojata hai, toh dukh toh hota hi hai. Because you have worked so hard and the whole team has worked so hard. So, it really hurts you if the product is not out in the light of the day. So, when it came, it came suddenly. No one told us," he said.
The senior actor recalled he was shooting in Patiala for a project with Bhuvan Bam when he got messages about
Satluj's release on ZEE5. Singh was happy; however, by the time he reached Mumbai, in two days, the film was removed. What happened next? The actor revealed that he called his director, who told him that
Satluj was taken down, but they were trying their best (to bring it back)."(Honey said) We will go to the court, and then we will fight again. I said, '
Yes jab hum 2.5 saal ladte rahe, aap ladte rahe, aapne aur Ronnie (Ronnie Screwvala) ne milke bada commitment dikhaya'. Ab inhone ne bandh ki hui hai (film). Band kyu hui hai? Mujhe toh nahi pata."The senior actor also pointed out how freedom of speech is being strangled
. "Hum freedom of speech ki agar baat karte hai, you are strangling it
. Ab ye history ho chuki hai. Agar backlash ka hi aapko problem tha, iska matlab, jab bhi film Hitler par banegi ya uss holocaust pe banegi, toh backlash hoga, uska reaction hoga. Aisa nahi hota hai, time heals a lot," he added.
Singh further opined that the solutions are always found through dialogue and love. "J
ung mein kisi sawaal ko hal nahi kia hai aur kisi mudde ko hal nahi kia. Humesha baat-cheet se hal hota hai aur mohabbat se hota hai. Aur history agar dikhayi jaa rahi hai baccho ko jo nahi jaante, toh kya bura hai? Unka vision hi badhta."
